This iconic structure, one of the most photographed landmarks on the West Coast, is being carefully revitalized to preserve its historical significance while elevating the experience for future generations.

Project Progress: Phase 1 Complete

We are thrilled to announce the successful completion of Phase 1! This monumental effort—made possible through partnerships with the City of San Diego, Parks and Recreation, and our generous donors—focused on revitalizing the building’s structural integrity and restoring key architectural features. With these updates, the Botanical Building is now ready for its next chapter of renewal and vibrancy.

What’s Next: Phase 2 Begins

Forever Balboa Park is leading and funding Phase 2, which will transform the surrounding gardens and improve accessibility throughout the area. This next phase will focus on constructing ADA-compliant paths, restoring historic fountains, and the meticulous work on urns and balustrades. These enhancements ensure that the revitalized space can be enjoyed by everyone, while maintaining the historic beauty that visitors have cherished for over a century.
