Lath Install Begins

The Botanical Building and Gardens revitalization project is making visible progress. The construction team began installing the new redwood lath roof on the west side of the building. Before construction began, the lath roof was visibly damaged, with pieces visibly broken or missing. As one of the most iconic elements of the structure, the new lath is a beautiful reminder of the restored building to come.
Framing for the restored palladian windows is also being installed, as you can see along the west side of the building. Arched windows like this will stretch across the building, more historically accurate to the building in 1915.
Tents are still in place on the east side of the building as the construction team completes the sandblasting process on the steel foundation.
