Shaping the Future of the Botanical Building: Insights from Jackie, VP of Planning & Landscape Architect

“As a landscape architect with over seven years at Forever Balboa Park, I am truly honored to be a part of the revitalization of the Botanical Building and its gardens. My passion for restorations and landscape architecture has guided my journey, starting from my earlier work on the Japanese Friendship Gardens during my master’s program to my current role leading this transformative project.

The Botanical Building is not just an architectural gem; it is a testament to Balboa Park’s rich history and cultural heritage. As we embark on the Enhancement Phase, I am excited to see how our efforts will breathe new life into this iconic structure. The addition of state-of-the-art, water-saving irrigation systems, the meticulous restoration of the historic urns and balustrades, and the planting lily pond will enhance the beauty and sustainability of the gardens for generations to come.

This revitalization project is about more than just aesthetics; it reflects our commitment to preserving the past while creating a vibrant, sustainable future for our community. I invite everyone to join us in this endeavor and celebrate the renewed splendor of the Botanical Building and gardens.”
